Portas D'Alegrete
Regional Alentejano
Bag-in-Box Red 5L 2015

Portas de Alegrete (doors of Alegrete) is one of the seven gates of Portalegre city walls where, on the XIII century existed a wine cellar donated by its owners (Pedro João Domingos and his wife Maria Domingues) on the 15th August 1274. The purpose of the donation was to maintain the Hospital in the S. Francisco Convent, as it is shown on the tombstone at the Municipal Museum. The Regional Wine Portas de Alegrete is produced from a selection of traditional and typical local varieties of grapes (Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro and Castelão), that present a bright ruby color, aromas of ripe forest fruits, soft and concentrated. Its name intends to maintain alive the memory of the donation and the secular tradition of the wine-growing area.
